1964 Jaguar E-type Series 1 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe

Delivered new in 1964, this wonderful matching number E-type 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe was first road registered in the UK as 7582WK. Supplied new in Left Hand Drive it was then personally exported with this first owner back to Hollywood , California. The car remained in California, with the last known keeper taking ownership of the car in 1993. The car was sold in 2007 ( still in a highly original condition) to Mr Taylor in the UK and road registered in 2009. The current vendor purchased the car that same year and used the car on the road in its original state- reapplying for its original and important WK number plate which it retains to this day. In 2010 the car was stripped to bare metal, the body shell proved to be rust free, and the car was painstakingly restored into its world class condition as it presents today. Upgraded Sympathetically to make this a truly driver’s car, 7582WK has been used extensively throughout Europe. Sensible drivers upgrades include front and rear heated windscreens, Electric Power Steering from E-Type Fabs, switchable to zero when required, but ideal for use when parking .Four Pot Cooper Craft brakes, ventilated at front and all brakes fitted with Mintex Racing pads with Goodridge hoses used virtually throughout. An Aluminium Radiator and Header Tank was installed, coupled with a Kenlowe fan with both temperature sensor and Manual Override, along with a new Cable Throttle from John Mangoletsi eliminating lost movement of the throttle pedal. A Fast steering rack from SNG Barratt and uprated Torsion Bars from Robe Beere Racing who also supplied the adjustable reaction plate help improve drivability. The Exhaust Manifolds were coated by Zircotec, and thereafter an all stainless steel exhaust system. The engine was totally striped and rebuilt by Sigma Engineering to fast road specification, including a high efficiency racing alternator and high torque starter motor. Sigma also rebuilt the rear axle with adjustable Shock Absorbers and remote bleed for the rear brakes and fitted an Electronic Fuel Pump and Distributor. The gearbox is the acclaimed 5 speed unit from E-Type Fabs to give relaxed high-speed touring. The original Moss box is included in the sale. The original bucket seats have been replaced with sports seats having reclining backs and with head rests for more comfortable long-distance driving. The original bucket seats are also included if required. The inertia reel seat belts have been incorporated at the base of the B pillar as in the series 3 e-types. Hazard warning has been included and the clock has been modified with a modern electronic movement. The period radio, updated with modern electronics is not effective as a radio because there is no aerial, but it does have an MP3 input, and also Bluetooth. The microphone is concealed under the dash-top. Beyond this the Cabin floor totally lined with Cool-It heat insulation, with an additional layer of Zircotec under the Cool-It in the drivers position and the heater fitted with upgraded heat exchanger with uprated motor and fan. Headlights are Xenon, All incandescent filament bulbs, both internal and external have been replaced with the latest high efficiency LED types. In addition, LED daylight running lights have been added for increased driving safety. These are easily removed if not wanted. Where possible and desirable, all fixtures are from stainless steel, including bonnet washers, LHD reservoir mounting plate, (zircotec lined) and exhaust deflector panels, (zircotec lined). Front suspension parts nickel plated and then powder coated to be rust resistant. The restoration was finished in 2016 and the car presents today in immaculate restored condition, and would be welcome to any international Jaguar Concours event.
